Italy's Unique Airbnb's: 5 Homes That Will Blow You Away

Planning a trip to Italy? I say you ditch the old, boring Holiday Inn (No offense Holiday Inn), and opt in for a unique Airbnb that will make you feel more like a local and less like a tourist. Why miss out on the opportunity to rent a local's apartment in Rome, or a condo overlooking Venice's famous canals? If this sounds as good to you as it sounds to me, read on, because I've got some spots picked out for you that you won't want to miss.

Before I get into the five unique Airbnb stays that I've found throughout the country, I want to preface that when I mention "cost per night" I will not be factoring in rental or cleaning fees. Those typically are minimal and will display once you go through selecting your preferred travel duration and dates. Now that that's out of the way, let's get to the good stuff!

1. Trullo Suite Martodda

Located just outside Locorotondo near the southeastern coast of Italy, experience the magic of staying in an authentic Apulian trullo. Dating back to 1714 but equipped to guarantee the most modern comforts, you will live in an environment rich in history, intimate but cared for in every detail. Click here to view all that this incredible site has to offer! With features like a living room, full kitchen and bathroom, a stunning master (pictured below), a dining room, and a private exterior overlooking gorgeous Italian landscape, this Airbnb might just be a highlight of your trip! And for only $71 a night...you've got to be kidding me. That's how much I impulsively spent on my last trip to Target!

2. Canal View Residence

Moving on to our next extravagant stay, linked here. This time, we're looking at an incredible Venice apartment conveniently situated to the main spots in Venice, while also located in a quiet area away from the busy streets. This apartment features authentic Venetian style decor, in a private palazzo from the 1600's, with a stunning view overlooking one of Venice's well known canals.

Situated on the 1st floor, the apartment has one large bedroom with a queen sized bed. Oh, and here's a bonus...it comes with a Nespresso machine. The entrance opens up into a very big living area with a canal view where you can sit and basically touch the water while you are enjoying a glass of wine. Does your Italian experience get much better than this? All this for only roughly $300/night, which is on the much higher end of prices of Airbnb's in Italy.

3. Cozy Converted Palace near Duomo with Jacuzzi

This one may be my personal favorite. Located in Florence, this Airbnb Plus listing stands out among all others in this city, while only at a price point of $99/night. The host guides you through the experience with his description of the property: "Wander up to the first floor of an ancient palace in the heart of Florence to find a classic, bright and welcoming home full of character. Notice the high ceilings, marble details and Italian furnishing that make this apartment so typically local. In 2 minutes walking you can reach The Dome and the others most important points of interest in Florence. At the end of a pleasant walk in the city center you can relax yourself in our Jacuzzi and in our spacious king-size bed. You can find TV with Netflix, free Wi-Fi, hair dryer, Air Conditioning and heating, microwave oven and a little fridge." What more could you ask for? You can tell that this host cares about the little details of making your Italian experience great.

4. La Casa Sulla Spiaggia

For this next property, I wanted to take you to the beach, and offer you more space in case your bringing a whole group that's looking to enjoy Italy's Mediterranean Sea. Located in Napoli, this property literally sits right atop the ocean, with access to a stunning private beach. Admire spectacular Italian sunsets from a terrace overlooking the sea. In the morning, follow the stairs down to a sandy beach for a dip in the crystal clear sea. Return to a fresh Mediterranean-style home, splendid in its luxurious simplicity. Live a unique stay, for an unforgettable seaside life experience. For only $144/night, you and your group will get an insane bang for your buck!

5. Cozy Modern Apartment near the Vatican Museums

For the more modern, Italy-goers, this is certainly the place for you. Looking through these images, I was blown away by the clean, minimal, and modern design of this space. Expecting this stay to come at a large price, I was pleasantly surprised to see it at a price point of $97/night. Enjoy all that Rome has to offer, while relaxing in a space that makes you feel luxurious. I imagine the photos don't even do this apartment justice, but I suggest you head to Airbnb's site to drool over this space's design--I'm confident you'll end up booking a stay you won't forget!
