This natural wonder of the world is the world’s largest coral reef spanning just over 1,400 miles long and can even be seen from space! Within this ecosystem there are about 1500 species of fish, 400 species of coral, 4000 species of mollusk, 240 species of birds, and many other species of sponges, crustations, anemones and others. This is one of the world’s greatest examples of ecosystem diversity. This location was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981 and is the world's most extensive coral ecosystem. This location is great for divers of all skill levels because it hosts many dept-levels to choose from.
These tours are not as bad as you would think with a standard eight-hour dive for two cost about $150 and go up from there. This includes the ride on the yacht as well with the actual dive lasting about five hours split between two locations. Instructions and equipment are provided, and a qualified instructor is always on site making this a safe and one-of-a-kind experience. The cheapest dive I was able to find was $69 and allows divers to venture to depths of 0-15 meters and last about four hours. In this tour equipment is provided, boogie boards for guests to rest on in between dives, boat ride to and from location, and professional dive tours. The most expensive tour I could find was about $400 for a full day tour and $600 for a two-day tour. These more expensive options give guests a private diving location and a more involved experience or allow them to go on multiple dives. The dives are also fully inclusive and come with equipment, instructors, and novelties like towels and floats to increase the experience.
We highly recommend putting this one on your list if you plan on visiting! This is a truly unique location that may not be around forever. This is the only coral reef on the World Heritage List, and it rightfully deserves so. This vast ecosystem offers guests a one-of-a-kind, stunning adventure. There are many guide options that allow guest to tailor their trip to their interest and experience.
